The Saban Free Clinic's Education and Outreach Department provides comprehensive sex education and alcohol and drug prevention education.  We have a Health Education team of 3 young adults and a Peer Health Education team of  2 youth who conduct presentations and outreach.  More about us:

I grew up on the streets of Los Angeles, getting into trouble and rep~ing whenever I can.  I lived a little but lost a lot.  My struggles are my own; going through life as a teenager and then some...I always say, "I never forget where I came from, because it's made me who I am today." Who am I today? I am 28 years young, mother of two beautiful boys and one diva-in-the-making; family is #1 to me.  I love dancing (when nobody is watching), and rolling up in a warm blanket to watch a good flick.  My passion is working with youth and raising my kids to be strong individuals.  I have been working with youth for about 8 years now.  I love working with youth who are often labeled as "trouble makers," not necessarily to change who they are, but just to say that there is more to life that we don't often see.

Carlos

Hi, my name is Carlos and I am first generation Mexican American.  I was born and raised in Rialto, CA, and moved to Los Angeles about 6 years ago.  I have a small 4 lb female Terrier/Chihuahua mix that I rescued from the animal shelter. I enjoy and love various aspects of my life.  As a Health Educator, I enjoy being able to provide comprehensive sex information to youth who are the adults of tomorrow.  I very much enjoy working for a non-profit organization that understands that "Health care is a right - not a privilege," and I know that as an employee, I do my part in keeping Los Angeles healthy.  One thing that I love about my life is having cool down-to-earth people around me all the time. I also am a part-time DJ in the Electro-pop and Indie scene.   I hope all the information on this website helps youth out.  Take care and KEEP DANCING!! YO!!!

My name's Julia and I'm 24 years old.  I grew up in the San Francisco bay area and spent the last couple of years in Rhode Island before moving out to Los Angeles this summer to continue learning and growing.  I love doing what I'm doing because it allows me to continually challenge myself and others about health and pleasure in really fun and supportive and positive ways. I'm all about loving, laughing and living.

Maya 

I'm 16 years old and I go to Hollywood High School. I’m creative and….very individualistic (to say the least). I LOVE food, (especially calamari and ChiCKEN) and hot sauce. I refer to myself as Chocolate City  sometimes and I like to read. I’m family oriented and I have a fabulantastic cat named Kali. I really love the movie Purple Rain and a little bit of old school hip hop. I dance a little and I love to sing, even though some would argue that my singing leaves much to be desired..I stay close to my friends and sometimes I browse the dictionary. I like to share the things I learn with people because I think that knowledge TRULY is power. I LOVE music (both old and new) and I’m ridiculously friendly. : ) I’M FUN and I like to make up my own words. I came to the Saban clinic because I like to learn, and I definitely get to learn here and also, as earlier written, I like to share beneficial information with others. It’s important for me to tell people the truth on STDs, sex, drugs, alcohol, pregnancy..etc. because there are so many common misconceptions that people hear that need to be eliminated and  I feel that if people can learn the truth, they can stop the spread of both the issues at hand and their misconceptions.

Ello, my names Andiee , I’m seventeen years young. I’m a vegetarian! Animals are friends yo! Not food :D I live in what I call the “gray area” between Lincoln Heights and Highland Park. I’m a senior at Downtown Magnets High School and I’m in the fashion magnet. I can’t say that I want to be a fashion designer. I do think the industry is really interesting and cool, but what I really love is desserts! <3 I love to bake and I love learning about the different types of desserts around the world and what different cultures eat. The Food Network has to be my favorite channel, hands down!! I love music tremendously.. It’s my “medicine” for when things are rough or bad. It’s what gets me through life and what not :) It’s rad!! I’m not afraid to speak my mind (which can sometimes get me in trouble) and I love to learn new things. I am really enjoying working at the Saban Free Clinic now. I have always been open with talking about sex to my friends and peers so I thought that being a peer health educator would be great as a job. I think that learning about subjects like safer sex, pregnancy prevention, and drug use/misuse from kids your age is one of the greatest ways to learn and grow! So, I’m glad that this is what I’m doing :) So yeah! That’s meeee! Peace…..

Hi my name is victor Herrera I like to-do a lot of things like make skate videos or just random videos in general. Right now I have already made two videos of me skating and helpers revenge. I enjoy playing football, dancing, talking, and I like to read sometimes but when I am alone or when I am tired. Im into art but what I really like is graffiti because its like art to me. I have a pet turtle and I named it “SAMY” because when I got it I did not know if it was a boy or a girl.
